Thank the Universe that some of these projects are fast and easy, or I’d never be able to keep up. Of course we were a bit busy with Audrey’s mystery rash for a couple days. It turns out she had a wicked case of hives, caused by who knows what (the pediatrician says it was most likely a cold virus-who knew!!??) 36 hours, and several new gray hairs later, she is back to normal, just some faint purple shadows where all the red used to be…
I did manage, however to keep going with Handmade Holidays over at Sew Mama Sew. I skipped 5 & 6- a tote bag and a baby blanket, although I do have the squares cut out for the blanket; I just need to sew it all up. Next up are Christmas ornaments made of felt. I’m really looking forward to getting away from my machine, and doing some hand sewing. I think I’m going to cut a few extra for Julian. I think he’d enjoy this…So here’s #4: a lunch bag…This one nearly made me tear my hair out. It is not at all what I had envisioned. It started out as a tote that I started a while back but never finished. I stuck a layer of insul-brite on the inside, but should have also used some heavier interfacing , because it’s pretty floppy. And nothing was lining up properly, so there’s some puckers. I couldn’t even bring myself to sew the button on. I have considered ripping it apart and making it into a zippered pouch, but I need to not look at it for a while!
and #7:a fabric wallet and a pocket tissue holder (I decided to do both since the tissue holder was so fast!)..
And, finally, #8 -a girly bunting. This one was also super fast and fun.
Sorry this post is so picture heavy. I’m going to try to post each day from now on.In other news, Julian is taking his test in Karate to get his first yellow stripe. He’s so excited! I’m so glad he found something he enjoys after enduring 2 seasons of endless complaining about soccer. We saved his cleats, though, in case Audrey decides to become a soccer supa-star!
